St. Cloud bar cancels weekend event

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) -- A St. Cloud bar has canceled a Friday night hip-hop show that had prompted police to step up patrols.

Promoters called the 18-plus event "St. Cloud: The Takeover" and would have bused people from the Twin Cities to the show.

But RumRunners Bar owner Jamie Dickmann tells WCCO-TV he decided to cancel the event because of public safety concerns.

Dickmann says he got caught off-guard "by how big a deal" the show had become. Originally he says it was just supposed to be a busload of about 30 people, but the event took off through social media.

St. Cloud Police Chief Blair Anderson had planned extra patrols and warned his department would take a zero-tolerance approach to crime this weekend.

The promoter did not return calls to WCCO.
