Company wants to launch oil tankers on Lake Superior

North Dakota's oil boom is going so strong that there aren't enough pipelines and railroad cars to transport all the crude oil out of the region.

A company called Calumet LLC is considering the construction of a shipping terminal on Lake Superior. Barges and ships leaving from there would carry crude oil from the Twin Ports to destinations as far away as the East Coast.

But that plan has some concerned about the potential for spills. MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke with Dave Podratz, the plant manager of Calumet operations in Superior, Wisconsin.
