Boy, 17, held in death of girl in Maplewood
The police in Maplewood say they have made an arrest in the death of a 16-year-old girl found stabbed last Saturday.
The body of Anna Hurd was found in a neighborhood park.
Acting Maplewood Police Chief Dave Kvam said evidence discovered in the past few days led investigators to arrest a 17-year-old boy, who was not being identified. The teenager was booked into the Ramsey County Juvenile Detention Center on a second-degree murder charge.
Kvam said he cannot provide many details because he does not want to identify the juvenile suspect.

"And the case does remain very active," he said. "We have work to do. Our detectives are still interviewing folks. And we don't want to jeopardize an active case. What I will say is it was an acquaintance; it wasn't a stranger crime. An arrest does not mean a conviction; it doesn't mean a sentence."
Hurd's father, Patrick Hurd, said he was relieved that a suspect has been found.
"I'm glad that they've got the person, and you've got to let these people work," Hurd said. "It was hard. I was stomping my feet, man. But they've got to do their job."
The police are not looking for other suspects, Kvam said, adding that the case is still under investigation. He said the Ramsey County Attorney's Office will announce charges early next week.
