2,000 metro security guards ratify contract
After a one-day strike this week, 2,000 private Twin Cities security guards have voted to ratify a contract with employers.
Their contract expired Dec. 31. They walked out Wednesday, and on Thursday employers returned to the negotiating table. The two sides reached a tentative agreement that evening.
Representatives of Service Employees International Union Local 26 say the new contract improves health care for guards and includes raises of $1.20 over three years.
About 4,000 metro janitors also voted Saturday to ratify a new contract.
