ND Guard biathlon team wins championship

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- The North Dakota National Guard has won a team championship at the 29th Annual Chief of the National Guard Bureau Biathlon Championships.

This is the second time the North Dakota team has won the National Guard championship during the past four years. The four athletes that competed on the winning team are Maj. Eric Nordgren, of Pelican Rapids, Minn., 1st Lt. Blake Hillerson, of St. Paul, Minn., 1st Lt. Robert Meland, of Bismarck, N.D., and Spc. Conrad Roberts, of Battle Lake, Minn.

The sport of biathlon combines cross-country skiing with rifle marksmanship on a 50-meter range.
