Wis. senator to headline Minn. GOP event

Wisconsin's senators are invading Minnesota.

The Minnesota Republican Party announced Friday that first-term GOP Sen. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin will keynote the party's annual Lincoln Reagan Dinner to be held in early April. Minnesota Democrats, meanwhile, previously announced that first-term Democratic Sen. Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin would headline their own Humphrey-Mondale fundraising dinner in April.

In tapping Johnson, Minnesota GOP chairman Pat Shortridge touted the businessman who came out of nowhere to knock off an incumbent Democrat in 2010. Minnesota Republicans are currently searching for a candidate to take on Democratic Sen. Al Franken in 2014, but so far no one has stepped up.
