Twins pitcher moved to intensive care
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Twins minor league pitcher Deolis Guerra has been moved to intensive care at a Florida hospital because of a blood clot in his pitching shoulder.
The team says Guerra was feeling some numbness in the shoulder area while in Puerto Rico recently for the Venezuelan World Baseball Classic. Guerra was hospitalized after he returned to Twins camp last week and had tests that revealed the blood clot.
Twins manager Ron Gardenhire tells the St. Paul Pioneer Press the condition is "a serious thing that they have to monitor" closely. Guerra is hospitalized at HealthPark Medical Center in Fort Myers, Fla.
