Fridley teacher honored for education effort on Holocaust

Monday, April 8, is Holocaust Remembrance Day. Tonight the Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas will commemorate the date by honoring survivors and people who worked to bring justice to those involved in the Holocaust.

One honoree, teacher Anneke Branderhorst, will receive the council's Courage to Teach Award for making special efforts to educate kids about the genocide of about six million Jews during World War II. Branderhorst teaches a course about the Holocaust at Calvin Christian High School in Fridley.
