Anhydrous ammonia trucker dies after crash
The driver of a truck carrying anhydrous ammonia hit by a train last week has died.
Eric Westin, of Pine City, was being treated at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Last Tuesday, he was leaving a fertilizer plant with a load of the chemical when his truck was struck by an oncoming train carrying oil. The crash ruptured the tank trailer of Westin's truck and released a cloud of toxic gas.
Hospital spokeswoman Jeanine Nistler said Westin died early Monday morning.
