Anoka-Hennepin to launch independent probe of Champlin Park incident
Anoka-Hennepin School District leaders said Wednesday they will have an independent investigation conducted in the wake of an incident involving a teacher at Champlin Park High School.
District spokeswoman Mary Olson said Superintendent Dennis Carlson reviewed the incident with the school board and legal counsel at Tuesday's board meeting and called for the outside probe. The district's legal counsel will handle the specifics, Olson said.
A YouTube video of the incident May 3 appears to show a teacher pushing a black student into desks and placing him in a headlock. The video sparked outrage among parents and students.
The district announced on Friday that it would conduct its own investigation, but some Somali community members called for an independent investigation.
