Wis. deputy investigated for relationship

The Dane County sheriff has asked the district attorney to consider charges against a deputy accused of having a relationship with a woman in a jail diversion program.

Sheriff Dave Mahoney says the 41-year-old deputy was placed on paid leave May 30, the day after the sheriff's office learned of the alleged relationship.

The 42-year-old woman wore an electronic home monitoring bracelet. Mahoney says the woman told a counselor and her probation agent about the relationship.

The deputy has not been arrested. His attorney tells the Wisconsin State Journal he had not seen a search warrant filed Thursday and could not immediately comment.

The deputy has been with the sheriff's office for about 15 years and was assigned to work in the jail.
