Roadwork shuts 3 metro arteries this weekend

Drivers in the Twin Cities are dealing with three major road closings this weekend.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation has projects underway in the western suburbs, Minneapolis and Roseville that may mean traffic delays.

The southbound lanes of Interstate 35W are closed from Highway 36 to downtown Minneapolis as crews work on bridge and drainage repair, fixing signs, replacing lights and removing trees. Drivers are being directed down Highway 280 to I-94 as a detour.

On Highway 62, the Crosstown, MnDOT has closed the road between Interstate 35W and Highway 100. Crews are taking the deck off the Penn Avenue bridge for a replacement project. Eastbound lanes will be open to France Avenue to accommodate hospital traffic.

Farther north, a seven-mile stretch of the northbound side of U.S. 169 is closed between Highway 55 and Interstate 694 as crews resurface the road.

All three closings are expected to end by Monday morning's rush hour.
