Minnesota Vikings' DeMarcus Love suspended

The NFL announced today that Minnesota Vikings tackle DeMarcus Love has been suspended for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

The league suspended Love without pay for the Vikings first four regular season games, although he's allowed to play in the preseason. He can return to the Vikings' active roster on Sept. 30.

Love's agent, Thomas Sims, said in an email that the banned substance was in a product that Love purchased at a dietary supplement store.

"It was an honest and unintentional mistake," Sims wrote. "He looks forward to resuming his playing career with the Vikings organization and contributing to the 2013 football season."

Love was drafted by the Vikings in the 6th round of the 2011 NFL draft. He spent last season on injured reserve.
