Woman gets 3 years in prison for abducting baby

A Minneapolis woman has been sentenced to three years in prison for abducting a friend's baby.

Isabel Diaz-Castillo, 30, was sentenced Monday after earlier pleading guilty to one count of kidnapping. The abduction of the 8-month-old boy last February prompted an Amber Alert. Prosecutors say Diaz-Castillo befriended the baby's mother about a month before the child was taken from his Minneapolis apartment.

Authorities found Diaz-Castillo with the baby in her arms in the basement of her apartment.

WCCO-TV reports the defendant will get credit for 181 days she's been behind bars. After she finishes her sentence, she must register as a predatory offender or face deportation. ---
