Road closures around state hamper motorists

Motorists may be delayed by several fall road projects that begin Monday, Sept. 9.

Ferry Street in Anoka, also known as Hwy. 47, will close between Hwy. 10 and the Anoka County fairgrounds for repairs to a railroad crossing north of Martin Street Monday. That closing will last a week.

In St. Paul, the ramps from northbound Interstate 35E to Maryland Avenue and from Maryland Avenue to southbound I-35E are scheduled to close Monday through November.

Motorists in the southwestern Minnesota area can expect delays later this week as crews work on a 13 mile stretch of Hwy. 59 from Hwy. 14 north to Marshall starting Wednesday. MnDOT is repaving the road and replacing guardrail. Traffic in the area will be controlled by pilot cars.

That work is expected to wrap up by early November.
