MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Registration opens Wednesday for the 2014 U.S. Pond Hockey Championships in Minneapolis.

Players can start registering their teams at 10 a.m. Central time on the USPHC website.

All divisions will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. A wait list will open once each division fills.

Next year's competition will feature a new division -- the Cedar Division. The Cedar Division is for those players in between the Open Division -- which features the most competitive teams -- and the Rink Rat Division, for men and women age 18 and older who may not have the skills to take on former NHL players. The U.S. Pond Hockey Championships will be played Jan. 17-19, 2014, on Lake Nokomis in south Minneapolis.
