Charges filed over teen's alleged school bus theft

Authorities have filed charges against a 14-year-old boy who allegedly stole a school bus in Roseville Monday.

The boy faces a charge of motor vehicle theft and two counts of criminal property damage -- all felonies.

Police say the teen, who's name is not being released because he's a minor, took off with the bus after the driver left it running outside a gas station. The St. Paul teen allegedly damaged some pumps at the gas station.

Authorities say the boy drove the vehicle to a bus company in Maplewood, but then turned around after he heard on the bus's radio that police were following him.

The teen has been released to his parents and remains under the supervision of juvenile probation officers. He'll make his next court appearance March 6.
