Former VP Mondale recovering from heart surgery
Former Vice President Walter Mondale is recovering from heart surgery.
Mondale underwent the surgery Wednesday at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. His family said in a statement he is doing fine and is expected to make a full recovery.
Mondale is 86. The surgery comes soon after the death of his wife, Joan.
Walter Mondale was vice president in the 1970s, a Democratic nominee for president in the 1980s and an ambassador to Japan in the 1990s.
