St. Paul now enforcing winter parking restrictions

St. Paul, which has now banned parking on the even-numbered side of all streets until further notice, starts ticketing and towing Monday to enforce the policy.

The city says unusually deep snow has narrowed streets because plows can't push any more onto the boulevards. That's made two-way traffic impossible in places and streets too narrow for fire trucks to pass and fire crews to work.

Authorities started issuing warnings on Saturday. As of today, the city says that any vehicles violating the ban will be ticketed and towed away. The ban will be in effect until the weather improves and the streets widen again.

Minneapolis instituted a similar ban last month. Parking is also banned on the even side of the street in that city. The restrictions in Minneapolis will be in place through April first.
