Car pulled back after hanging from Rochester parking ramp
Fire officials and tow truck operators had to pull back a car that had ended up suspended from the seventh floor of a parking ramp in eastern Minnesota.
Mike Bjoraker, assistant fire marshal in Rochester, tells the Post-Bulletin the woman driving said she had stepped on the brake in the Damon Parking Ramp, but the car "still surged forward." The call came in about 8:40 a.m. Friday.
The vehicle struck the five cables that surround the outside of the open-air, 10-story ramp severing two of them, before becoming wedged under a steel beam.
The assistant fire marshal says the woman was uninjured and able to get out.
He says it was a first for the firefighters on the scene.
