It's the new Vikings stadium vs. migratory birds, and so far the Vikings are ahead.
The Audubon Society said last week the glass facade of the new Vikings stadium will be a "death trap" for migrating birds who use the Mississippi corridor as a flight path.
The organization started a letter-writing campaign to get the Vikings and the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority to consider a more bird-friendly design.
Both organizations responded saying neither will be making any changes to the glass because of the cost, but they will take other mitigating steps, such as turning off the lights during migrations.
Sharon Stiteler, who blogs at BirdChick.com, joined MPR News' Tom Crann to discuss the concerns of the Audubon Society and possible solutions.
