From the PRI's America Abroad series: "Combating Extremist Ideology Since 9/11."

Representatives of the 9/11 Commission and the State Departments under former Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush talk about what succeeded, what failed, and why.

Is the country safer than it was before 9/11? There hasn't been a major terrorist attack on American soil since then, ISIS has lost almost all its territory in Iraq and Syria, Bin Laden is dead, and yet there are still thousands of extremist fighters out there and their ideology continues to attract new recruits.

This America Abroad series is anchored by Madeleine Brand.
