Weeds, moisture, and labor shortages. Report shows where regional agriculture feels the most pain

A farm field and dirt road with water flooding both.
Heavy rain early Sunday, Aug. 17, 2025, flooded farm fields and rural roads across much of southern Minnesota, including parts of Steele and Waseca counties. Increased rainfall can lead to waterlogged soils, reducing the number of workable field days for farmers. Excess soil moisture and poor drainage were among the pain points identified in the Grand Farm report.
