The House Commerce committee is hearing an update on the January results from the electronic pulltab rollout. Minnesotans bet about $1.7 million dollars, a record. But its far short of the $100 million a month that the state was hoping for.
Minnesota Gambling Control Board executive director Tom Barrett gives lawmakers the news: there's about 140 locations in the state with electronic pull tabs, still a small fraction of the 2,500 the state had hoped for.
Committee chair Joe Atikins, a DFLer from South St. Paul wonders if the state department of revenue will need yet another revision of the estimated proceeds from the pulltabs.
"We're stuck," DFL Rep. Tom Anzelc just told his colleagues in the House basement hearing room. "We need to get unstuck." He suggested that there needs to be some change, perhaps to the regulatory system.
