Authorities investigating a suspicious death near Albert Lea hope newly-released evidence will offer clues to identify the human remains.

Freeborn County officials say when they found human bones near Albert Lea earlier this week, they also found a 10-carat gold ring that may help in identifying the remains.

The ring is shaped like a class ring and has a large red stone.

Investigators also found a pair of shoes made by the Mario De Gerard shoe company.

The remains appear to be those of a male and were apparently there for a number of years.

Officials have completed the first phase of the autopsy, but have not yet determined a cause of death. A second and more detailed phase of the autopsy is pending.
