Security officers at the ramp notified police of the stabbing. The victim was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center where she later died.

"By all accounts this appears to be an isolated incident from an altercation," Fors said.

Police initially said they'd arrested a suspect, but later said the woman turned out to be a witness and has been released. Police said they've identified but are still searching for the suspect.

Workers from the Minneapolis Crime Lab were processing evidence at the scene of the stabbing on Thursday morning. Police said they are also reviewing surveillance tape.

The victim will be identified by the Hennepin County Medical Center.
