Authorities ID man killed by Burnsville cops in McDonald's lot

The man who was shot to death by Burnsville police last week has been identified as 38-year-old Map Kong of Chaska.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's office said Kong died of multiple gunshot wounds. He was killed early Thursday in a McDonald's parking lot.

Five officers who were involved with the shooting have been placed on administrative leave. Burnsville's police chief says they were wearing body cameras at the time.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating the death. Burnsville police say Kong was brandishing a weapon when officers confronted him but have declined to provide details, deferring questions to the BCA.
