The suspect in Tuesday's Amber Alert has been charged with one count of second-degree and one count of third-degree assault.

Herlsey Hulbert, 26, of Minneapolis is scheduled to make his first court appearance Thursday afternoon.

The alert went out Tuesday morning after officers responded to 911 calls of a woman being assaulted. Police say they found a woman who had been stabbed in the leg. A 911 caller said her attacker had fled with the woman's son.

Officers found Hulbert and the 2-year-old boy hours later and arrested Hulbert.

Police said Tuesday that Hulbert is the child's father, although the county attorney's office said Thursday it's still investigating the relationship and child care arrangement and that other charges against Hulbert could be added.
