Minneapolis City Council votes in support of more immigration and refugee funding

The Minneapolis City Council wants the 2026 budget to include more funding for immigration and refugee support, especially in light of the increased ICE presence in the Twin Cities. The council voted unanimously in favor of amendments that increase legal services and adds a position to the Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs.

Over the past decade, emergency room visits for youth that are in the midst of a mental health crisis have surged.

A bridge in Polk county that commercial vehicles and local residents use to travel to Crookston has been closed due to safety concerns. The Minnesota Department of Transportation has kept a close eye on the Highway 75 bridge in the town of Climax for the last couple of years. The river’s flow under the bridge has been moving the surrounding earth, causing one of the bridge’s legs, or piers, to inch out of place.
