Gov. Tim Walz plans to take executive measures this week on guns. Walz has struggled to gain buy-in for a special legislative session to pass new restrictions on guns after a mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church and School this summer left two children dead.

Sunday marked the first day of Hanukkah, an eight-day Jewish celebration with nightly menorah lightings, prayer and food. According to St. Paul Rabbi Tzemach Feller, the Twin Cities has held public menorah lightings over the past 50 years. Sunday night, Feller said, Jewish Minnesotans gathered with a heavy heart after 15 people were shot and killed at a Jewish holiday event this weekend in Australia.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture says it'll release $12 billion in farmer aid next year. The Farmer Bridge Assistance payments are meant for farmers who've been hurt by market disruptions such as China's temporary boycott of American soybeans earlier this year.
