State park camping and lodging units nearly fully booked for Memorial Day weekend

Federal prosecutors have filed a fresh batch of fraud cases ahead of a visit to Minneapolis Thursday morning by acting Attorney General Todd Blanche and other administration officials.

Minnesota officials say there will be requirements tied to the state's stability funding investment into Hennepin County Medical Center. The funding includes $205 million this year and another $500 million through the Hospital Stabilization Reserve Account.

Two Moorhead parents have been arrested after their middle school child brought candy to school that police believe contained THC. Twelve students consumed the candy and some of their guardians are saying that their kids are being punished even though they did nothing wrong.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey on Wednesday introduced the man he'd like to serve as the city's next fire chief. Reginald Freeman has previously led fire departments in Oakland, Calif., and Hartford, Conn.

Memorial Day is fast approaching and thousands of Minnesotans are getting ready for camping trips to state parks over the holiday weekend. As of late last week, the DNR said fewer than 3 percent of state park camping and lodging units remained available for the full holiday weekend. As in years past, the best odds for finding an open site are in northwest Minnesota — including Lake Bronson, Old Mill and Zippel Bay state parks.
