Suspected tornado in Detroit Lakes injures 2 people

Two people were injured Monday when a suspected tornado touched down and caused significant damage north of Detroit Lakes. The Becker County Sheriff's Office says those injuries were not life-threatening.

Minnesota's new paid family and medical leave program is now a full six months old. The volume of signups was high when the program went live in January because many families who welcomed a new baby during the prior year could apply. The state expected the numbers to level off.

A small wildfire that ignited on Thursday in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness is now fully contained.

The city of St. Paul is notifying over 12,000 staff and residents their personal data might have been accessed during a cyber attack in July of last year. A criminal group accessed data stored on a shared parks and recreation network drive. The city is offering identity theft protection services for a year free of charge to anyone whose data was stolen.

About one in five businesses are using artificial intelligence. That’s according to recent data from the U.S. Census Bureau. But it's not happening evenly across the economy. Between 2023 and 2025, the number of businesses using AI more than doubled in manufacturing and more than tripled in healthcare. According to Census data, 96 percent of businesses that use AI say they have not made any changes to their workforce in the last six months because of it.

The latest U.S. Department of Agriculture crop growth survey shows that crop conditions remain steady across the state. It shows that 81 percent of the state's corn is rated as good to excellent. Seventy-eight percent of soybeans got that rating. Both crops logged slight improvements in conditions from the previous week.
