Firefighting officials say the wildfires in northeastern Minnesota are more than 50 percent contained. While fighting fires and protecting property remain the priorities, authorities are also looking to prevent future fires.
U.S. Senate candidate and current U.S. Rep. Angie Craig says her campaign didn’t ask for DFL state Senator John Hoffman’s backing while he was in intensive care. Hoffman said a mutual friend requested an endorsement while he was recovering from multiple bullet wounds during an assassination attempt. Hoffman has endorsed Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan. Craig denies it. Flanagan steered clear.
A man charged with threatening ICE agents in Minnesota pleaded not guilty Monday. Kyle Wagner is one of 15 people facing federal charges of interfering with immigration agents during the enforcement operation in Minnesota. Prosecutors allege Wagner made threats on social media against ICE and encouraged others to interfere with agents.
A judge in Minneapolis is temporarily blocking a new state law that bans prediction markets. The online services allow people to wager on everything from sports and elections, to when the Strait of Hormuz will open. In May, Minnesota became the first state to outlaw prediction markets over concerns about unregulated gambling. The ban drew immediate lawsuits from Polymarket, Kalshi and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
