A federal judge in Massachusetts Friday morning will consider whether the federal government violated an injunction barring immigration enforcement at a Minneapolis church.
The Diocese of Winona-Rochester's largest insurance company is settling a lawsuit filed by 145 survivors of clergy sexual abuse for $30 million. The settlement agreement with the United States Fire Insurance Company is on top of a previous settlement with the Winona-Rochester Diocese and its other insurance companies and covers claims of sexual abuse by clergy and diocese staff dating back to the 1960s.
A federal emergency assistance program is awarding a $2.6 million grant to Annunciation Catholic Church and School in Minneapolis. Area leaders sought the funding shortly after the mass shooting in August 2025 that killed two children and injured many more.
Federal prosecutors have charged an ICE agent with lying under oath after he shot and wounded a man in Minneapolis early this year. He has surrendered and is making his initial appearance Friday.

The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has identified the two people who were killed following a shooting Wednesday in Minneapolis. The BCA says 35-year-old Carleton Neil Johnson shot and killed Dale Henry Spry and Muse Afrah on the ninth floor of the Shoreline Plaza Apartments in Loring Park.
