Early and absentee voting for November's midterm election starts Friday in Minnesota

A Hennepin County judge set bail at $200,000 for an ICE agent accused of shooting and wounding a Venezuelan man in January. The agent posted bail and was released at about 6 p.m. Thursday. Christian Castro is accused of firing at Julio Sosa-Celis through the closed door of his duplex, then allegedly lying to the FBI about it before returning home to Texas.

Early and absentee voting for November's midterm election starts Friday in Minnesota, just days after the Supreme Court blocked efforts by the Trump administration to curtail mail-in voting.

A Minneapolis man has been sentenced to 14 months in prison for spraying vinegar on DFL Congresswoman Ilhan Omar earlier this year. 56-year-old Anthony Kazmierczak appeared in federal court Thursday. His sentence also includes a period of supervised release and an order to have no contact with Omar.

Officials say Minnesota jobs numbers for August are a mixed bag. Over the month, jobs stayed flat and unemployment ticked up to 4.4 percent on a seasonally adjusted basis. That's higher than the national rate. At the same time, the share of Minnesota's population who either have a job or are looking for work fell. That rate has been falling all year.

After two seasons of much anticipation, Minnesota fans will get a visit from the 3-on-3 women’s basketball league Unrivaled in 2027. The league will make a tour stop in Minneapolis next year. Minnesota Lynx stars have joined the roster including Olivia Miles, who will make her debut in the league, and Napheesa Collier, Courtney Williams and Kayla McBride.
