Two candidates vying to be Minnesota’s attorney general meet in their first debate.

DFL incumbent Keith Ellison, who is after a third term, and Republican Ron Schutz, an attorney, will go head-to-head over issues defining their intense and increasingly expensive race.

Ellison has won his past two elections by small margins even as others on his party’s ticket have cruised to victories.

But none of Minnesota’s statewide offices has been in one party’s hands as long as this one. Republicans last won a Minnesota attorney general’s race in 1966.

Tune in Friday at noon for a live broadcast of the Minnesota attorney general debate.

Guests:

  • Keith Ellison, a Democrat and a two-term attorney general

  • Ron Schutz, a Twin Cities attorney who is prominent in GOP circles
