The FBI says it foiled a planned mass shooting at the Mall of America. Investigators say 18-year-old Sheikhdoon Mohamud told an informant that he wanted to go to Somalia to fight for the Islamic State, but couldn’t afford to travel — so he instead plotted to attack the Mall of America.

Students at Roseville High School are planning a walkout on Thursday morning to protest the way education and government officials have handled the sexual assault case of a student at Cornell University.

Students at the Minnesota State Community and Technical College campus in Detroit Lakes are reacting to plans to close the campus. The Detroit Lakes campus is currently home to two programs, nursing and radiologic technology. Both will move to new locations.

A Hennepin County judge has lifted a temporary gag order on all parties involved in the state's murder case against Vance Boelter — including Boelter himself. Judge Juan Hoyos issued that temporary order last week pending a hearing to discuss the issue. In the wake of that hearing, held Monday, Hoyos has now lifted the gag order.

Minnesota voters will consider a statewide school funding amendment this November. The constitutional amendment would make changes to the Permanent School Fund, which is trust land money that is invested and distributed to school districts. Right now schools only receive about 2.5 percent of the fund’s value. If the ballot measure is passed they would receive 4.5 percent, which would translate to an extra $33 per pupil.

An 11-year-old boy was reported in critical condition late Wednesday after a vehicle struck him while he was riding an electric scooter in Washington County on Wednesday morning. First responders performed CPR, and the boy was taken to Regions Hospital.
