Meet Erica Zurek
Erica Zurek is a senior health reporter at MPR News.
Erica began her multimedia journalism career in Montana where she reported on health, policy, the environment and other subjects. Her reporting has appeared on WBUR’s “Here & Now,” Montana Public Radio, Yellowstone Public Radio and in KFF Health News, NPR, CBS News, the Daily Montanan and elsewhere.
Before journalism, Erica worked in violence prevention, taught high school and led a peer health educator program at Western Washington University. She also guided climbing, backpacking and sea kayaking trips in the Pacific Northwest, British Columbia and Alaska.
Erica has a master's degree in environmental science and natural resource journalism from the University of Montana. She recently returned to Minnesota after 25 years in the American West. She is excited to learn about the flora and fauna in Minnesota’s biomes and try cold-water surfing in Lake Superior.
