The story in "Aurora Borealis" is of a guy floating through life. He can't hold onto a job. Then he realizes his grandfather is struggling with Parkinson's and Alzheimer's, and it changes his life.

The story is the work of screenwriter Brent Boyd, who grew up in the Twin Cities. He trained as a playwright here. One of his projects was a play about his relationship with his grandfather. He told Minnesota Public Radio's Euan Kerr he set the piece aside when he was offered a job in Hollywood.
