The mall's phase II expansion includes outdoor retailer Bass Pro, a 6,000-seat performing arts auditorium, a 200-room hotel, and $25 million in new investment for the amusement park.
Bill Griffith, an attorney handling the mall's expansion, says when completed, the mall will total 10 million square feet; more than twice its current size.
"We believe that will be the largest in the world. Again, projects are proposed every day, so if I missed one in China or somewhere else, we certainly know in North America, this will be the largest project of its kind," said Griffith.
Several of the anchor tenants are still looking for investors. And the state must still approve millions of dollars in tax increment financing for the expansion. Phase II is slated for completion by 2010.
