The University of Minnesota is launching a search for a new head football coach at a key time for signing up top high school recruits.
Most colleges, including the Gophers, already have verbal committments from players to suit up next year.
But those who said they want to play for the Gopher program did so thinking that they would play under Glen Mason, who was fired over the weekend.
National Signing Day, when those players put their commitments in writing, is just over a month away.
Cathy Wurzer talked with Mike Grant,the head coach of Eden Prairie High School's football program, which regularly turns out players who get scholarships to play in college.
