(AP) - A task force will look at redeveloping the site of St. Paul's soon-to-be-closed Ford Ranger plant, Mayor Chris Coleman announced Friday.

Coleman said the Ford site in Highland Park "represents one of the best economic development opportunities" in the nation.

The task force will be a committee of the city's planning commission.

Members of the task force were chosen from among more than 100 applicants. They'll prepare a development framework to be considered by the planning commission, the City Council and the mayor.

Ford plans to shut down the St. Paul plant next year as part of a company reorganization.
