(AP) - A 47-year-old man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a fight aboard a Metro Transit bus that left one man dead.
The suspect was being held in the Hennepin County jail pending charges, police said in a statement.
According to a 911 call to police, two passengers got involved in a physical fight Monday evening on the bus near Central Avenue and 5th Ave. SE.
Metro Transit spokesman Bob Gibbons said the fight began after the driver and another passenger confronted a disorderly man who made a threatening gesture toward the passenger. The passenger then punched the man, who fell out of the bus door and onto the sidewalk. He was unconscious and was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, but later died.

This was the second incident of violence aboard a Metro Transit bus in Minneapolis in less than a week. Police said Monday that one man was in custody in connection with last week's shooting aboard a Route 5 bus in north Minneapolis.
A 19-year-old Minneapolis man turned himself in to police Monday at the Urban League on the city's North Side. It wasn't known what his role was in the shooting of 34-year-old Cleveland Montgomery, who remains in critical condition at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.
Minneapolis police have said Montgomery was trying to calm a loud group of young men when one of them shot him in the chest Thursday evening as the group exited the bus.
Authorities said community involvement helped in the case.
Members of the Police Community Relations Council, Uhuru Solutions and the Independent Freedom Party prayed over the suspect and his family before police led him away.
"This is the epitome of community-oriented policing," said Inspector Lee Edwards, head of the Fourth Precinct. "When the community and Police Department work collaboratively, we're able to solve our mutual problems in a more effective manner."
Community members agreed.
"We would hope the other young man out there on the run would come forth because he's at-risk right now," said PCRC member Spike Moss.
Metro Transit released surveillance photos of two of the suspects on Monday. They have said there could have been up to five people in the boisterous group.
