Health department says flu killed two more children

Both of the children died when flu cases were still peaking in Minnesota. One of the children died on January 26, and the other died on February 21.

These deaths bring the total influenza-related pediatric deaths to six for the 2006 - 2007 season.

The recently confirmed deaths were an 18-month-old and a 2-year-old. One of the children had mild underlying health conditions that were not diagnosed prior to the child's death.

Neither of the children had received influenza vaccine for the current influenza season.

One of the children lived in the Twin Cities metropolitan area, and the other lived in greater Minnesota.
