Ten years ago, the Red River of the North rose to 54 feet, which was 26 feet above the flood stage. The flood was one of the worst the people along the river had ever seen. It forced thousands of people from their homes, many of whom lived in Grand Forks, North Dakota and East Grand Forks, Minnesota.
Lisa Hedin was in Grand Forks fighting the bulging Red River. She was the area's engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
MPR's Perry Finelli talked with her about why she still thinks about the flood every day.
