Fire burning up the Gunflint Trail

Firefighters are having a difficult time trying to control a wildfire at the end of the Gunflint Trail in Minnesota's Arrowhead region.

Officials suspect the fire started at a Ham Lake campsite just outside of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. Authorities have ordered a mandatory evacuation of buildings in the west end of the Gunflint Trail.

MPR's Cathy Wurzer talked with Jeff Edmonds, a fire information officer in Grand Marais. He says at least 8,000 acres have burned, and the fire is growing.
