Dad charged in middle school meth case

Ramsey County prosecutors have charged Jerry Castillo, 35, with possession of a controlled substance. He was charged after police searched his home earlier this month and found about two grams of methamphetamine.

Police searched the home after Castillo's 14-year-old daughter gave meth to classmates at Hazel Park Middle School Academy. Seven students, including Castillo's daughter, were taken to the hospital after swallowing the drug.

The daughter, who has not been named, pleaded guilty to a felony charge of sale of a controlled substance.

Officials say Castillo admitted that the drugs seized at his home belonged to him, but that he denied giving the drug to his daughter.
