Officer, another man shot in downtown Minneapolis

A Minneapolis police officer was shot in the ankle and another man was shot in the back early Monday as police responded to a fight in a downtown parking lot.

Police said in a news release that shots were fired by a suspect as officers approached about 2:30 a.m. Police said officers at the scene did not return fire.

Both the officer and the other victim were transported to Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Police said one suspect was in custody and other potential suspects were being sought.
