One of the key regimes to sign on to the Middle East peace conference in Annapolis, Maryland is Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia's complicated relationship with other countries in the region allows it to be a player behind the scenes.
But there also is popular support for extreme forms of Islam, feeding both regional terrorist networks and human rights abuses.
