Minnesota home foreclosures took another jump in January.

Mortgage research firm RealtyTrac reported home foreclosures were up 25 percent over December 2007, but were still well below the national average.

RealtyTrac's Darren Blomquist said on a county-by-county basis the Twin Cities metropolitan area led the way in home foreclosures in Minnesota last month.

"Number one, Wright County, and then number two was Chippewa County. Number three and four were Dakota and Hennepin County. And then Ramsey County was number five," explained Bloomquist.

Blomquist said Minnesota ranked 29th among states in January foreclosure rankings.

The number of home foreclosures in Minnesota rose 78 percent over January 2007.
